Cheers!! I try not to fall into hyperbole if it can be avoided. I just don't understand people who want the government to shrivel up and do nothing at all to try and soften the blow from this crisis. I suppose it's true that the economy would readjust- but at what cost? What level of human suffering are we willing to see? The last thing we need is for this recession to turn into a depression.

Inflation is caused simply by an increase in money supply. A commodity backed currency is not exempt as it is also subject to increases in supply (e.g. Gold Rushes). They do indeed protect against govt. overspending and hyperinflation--but as I brought up in a an earlier post economies frequently face deflationary periods when the supply of the commodity dries up.

Bartering is the oldest form of "currency" in the world. It's pure supply and demand. "I need bananas, but I have goats. My neighbor needs goat milk and has bananas. Let's trade." There's no complicated as all hell departments that regulate everything, the consumer controls the value. Our current currency system is a trust system, all of which that have ever been implemented throughout history have failed. Currency needs to be redeemable for tangible wealth, not empty words.

Do you even know what inflation is? You keep saying overvalue, which leads me to believe that you don't. Inflation, in a nutshell, means that the more money you print the less valuable the rest of the money in the system is worth. The term inflation refers to the price of goods, IE food/gasoline/etc. The price goes UP, because the dollar value is LOWER. Inflation is not a natural phenomenon in all currency systems. You measure that statement by doing simple price comparisons of commodities in the past vs prices of commodities in the present. In the 1950's for example, you could go to the grocery store with about 5 dollars and come out with several bags of groceries. Today, you go into a grocery store with 5 bucks and are lucky if you come out with more than one or two items. Be that as it may, a gold or silver backed currency system has a more steady value than the federal reserve system money we have now. Yes, there are fluctuations in the gold redeemable or silver redeemable dollar. However, these fluctuations can be either an increase in value or a decrease in value. Ever since the inception of the fed, the value of the US dollar has steadily gone DOWN. It's a fraudulent system, and is NO different from what Soviet Russia did or what the confederacy did.

And, when it comes to singing he is generally much more into the song, much more energy and involvement than both Cohen and Cash who sometimes seem to have taken valium before performing. Well, I can only evaluate the material based on what I see in the material -- not the performer's intentions. It's a mode of criticism that relates back to the idea of intentional fallacy (be it a song or prose work). The idea that is that the material is cut off from the performer, therefore the material cannot be judged on what the artist wants it to be, despite 'authenticity' or 'posing.' interesting clip - I was recently diganoised with Menieres...after researching I found a lot of sites mentioning a link to Aspartame and Menieres. I'd never heard of that before..so I found this clip very helpful..thank you! Now I have to find out how much of our products have Aspartame in them...my kids eat jello...and probably a lot of other foods that contain aspartame. I'm sure Aspartame sucks. I once ate a full box of orange sweets sweetened with Aspartame and got the weirdest feeling in the neck/face/head area. Something like a tension accompanied by unpleasant restlesness. It was something very unfamiliar and almost scared me to death. Some time after that, I took a whole pachage of chewing gum (yea, it's all or nothing for me when stuff tastes good) and the same happened, although much weaker. Gum contained Aspartame I normally avoided and didn't notice.

I don't know why you guys think there's competition between Clapton and Mayer. This isn't marketing business, this is music. As long as they make lots of money and have a lots of fans, they're happy the way things are. Why compete to be the best, when you already have it all? If you have the kind of mentality to play music to get to the top, but not play it as the French would put it "art for art's sake", you won't be as great as Mayer or Clapton.

Two different styles. Mayer sounds a lot like Kenny Wayne Shepherd, absent the posing. Clapton is smooth, always pleasant tones, never makes a mistake, but not a really exciting player like SRV was. Mayer is a little more exciting. I really enjoy seeing these two different styles together. The John Mayer signature strat is a pretty comfortable playing strat. Haven't played a Clapton strat but suspect the neck would be thinner than I like. Good clip. Enjoyed both.

This is classic libertarian views. I think a more intelligent liberal would agree with the facts of this video. Less intelligent ones are confused by the definition of words. Taxation by definition is taking money by force, without force it is called donation or charity. To me it is not immoral to use taxation to provide certain services. One example is in the case of a foreign invasion. If someone does not wish to support the defense through taxation, jail for them.
