for anyone interested in making their own chart to get the same #'s it's rate of change 70 day cycle, compute the model for 40 of those 70 days and then keep computing to the next 16 days also. The model fit is -0.04x - 6.54 regression (% change) with a sine wave to adjust it. That is + 1.5 * sin (2*Pi * x / 6) on a 6 day cycle, days = x (e.g. day 0 to day 39 is those 40 days)

I just did this on the rate of change% (80 day) I had mentioned a while back, and my line (eye-balled it) was fairly close to the regression line (-0.32x slope, x being trading days from the peak). My eye-balled estimate was -0.34x. Anyhow, happy Math time and don't forsake Your Friend called Sleep.

hey in your charts, did you notice that not only can you easily use exp or log (or ln) to reshape the curve (e.g. the S&P or Dow or TSX have a log curve since the bottom, gold's bull market has an exponential curve with some high spikes)... but once you have it in a linear scale... OpenOffice lets you just select the data item (edit the chart object) and Insert Regression. pretty cool. just figures out the line & you can edit the Line to show the regression formula.

ah, I was just wondering if there was a data-based or math-theory based purpose to that number, like it's something that could be re-used on different segments of the data, or for just about any chart. Once I've got some more time I'm going to try to average the area under segments of rise-falling-retraced data (above the general floor of the data) to see if I can find a re-usable model, to predict where the next data-points will be. If I have more time I hope to let AI figure out such models

is no one else here seeing an over-all long-term trend that wouldn't take the DOW to 20,000 until at least 30 years (could be slower, later) from now? SO many segments even look logarithmic, not even linear or exponential growth. I'm really looking forward to some non-linear regression/fitting to get accuracy that flat lines can't describe on curves in charts.

I am honestly not seeing how the 738.20 %is part of any Fibonacci series or ratio or pattern. Why was that level chosen? I can understand 2+ 0.618033988 or 4+ 0.2360679 or 11+ 0.0901699, even ... 6.854101955 (inverse of 0.1458980339) makes sense in the series (though doesn't have the decimals all the same). I can't find 738.20 % (7.3820 or 0.13546).
